Core Historical Literature of Agriculture
More than a million pages of Agricultural History is available from the Core Historical Literature of Agriculture. This website contains books and Journals from 1623 to 1999. Full-text materials cover agricultural economics, agricultural engineering, animal science, crops and their protection, food science, forestry, human nutrition, rural sociology, and soil science. Scholars have selected the titles in this collection for their historical importance.
Farm, Field and Fireside
Farm, Field and Fireside is another major collection of Agricultural history. This website is composed of significant U.S. farm weeklies published in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. These newspapers played a major role in modernizing farms by communicating news about the telephone, the automobile and farm tractors.
Indiana Specific
The Indiana Farmer chronicled many changes in the state during its existence. Two of the major changes were the development of the horseless carriage and the Indiana State Fair. While Indiana Farmer is a rich resource for these topics, several other Web pages may be of interest.
