Purdue football backfield |
Description |
11-39 Two former Chicago high school stars, John Galvin, of Leo, (right), left halfback, and Ted Hennis, of Lindblom, (second from the right), quarterback, are included on one of the likeliest looking backfield combinations that Coach Mal Elward is grooming at Purdue as the Boilermakers seek to even the series count with Northwestern at Evanston on Saturday. Galvin, incidentally, was the leading rival of Bill de Correvont, Northwestern's sophomore star, in Chicago prep circles two years ago, and played against the Wildcat ace in the Leo-Austin charity clash that drew close to 120,000 people into Soldier's Field. The other members of the Boilermaker backfield include Lou Brock (left), right halfback, and Leon DeWitte, crashing fullback, whose defensive play has been outstanding. ----rcw---- |
