Wheat Varieties—Indiana climate and soil conditions are well suited for growing high quality soft red winter wheat but unfavorable for good quality hard wheat. Dual, Vermillion, Knox and LaPorte are new high yielding varieties. Dual is fly resistant; Knox and Vermillion are early short strawed; Vermillion is very winter hardy; LaPorte resists loose smut and powdery mildew.
