The minutes of the first meeting of the University Senate held on November 16, 1964, were approved as distributed. Professor Stubbs asked which members of the University Senate were appointed by the President. Those appointed are F. N. Andrews, P. F. Chenea, L. J. Freehafer, D. R. Mallett, N. M. Parkhurst, J. C. Smalley, O. D. Roberts and Helen B. Schleman. 2. Professor E. W. Noland presented the report of the Committee on Educational Opportunity as requested by the University Senate at its last meeting. A copy of the report is attached as Appendix A. A motion to accept the report was made, seconded and passed. Professor Henriksen moved that a smaller ad hoc committee be appointed to consult with the Registrar's Office or any other pertinent body on how to gather the kind of data Mr. Hatcher has requested in such a way that it would not be offensive to minority groups, but to do it with dispatch. At the suggestion of Professor Noland and consent of the seconder, Professor Henriksen agreed to add to the motion "in consultation with Professor Liljedahl's Committee." A second addition to the motion outlining the purpose of the committee a temporary action to take place to get information for the second semester and makes no implications as to the ultimate decision to be made by the larger committee. " Accepted by maker of motion and seconder. The motion as twice amended was lost.
