Its weight .when alive-was' 2,350 pounds; net weight of carcass 1,497; rough tallow 400 and hide 132.' This makes the tare but 4-5:j' including-; the .hide*—-the smallest, proportionally, we i-ehieniber* of; being1 less than one-fiftlr of the gross weight. ' OF tho quality of tlie beef; littlo liiore' need be said than that it took the' first premium yesterday. Mr. Calvin-Fletcher, jr., of- Marion, came close up to this Durham, and toolc the. second' premium with beef worthy the fable of the President of the,United-States.- •... . . ;.But Old Wayne is never satisfied with her trinmphs, but in Mutton and. Veal carried away all the premiums, and reluctantly consented that Mr. S, D.Baker, of Marion, should take the first premium for Pork. . All these meats were -worthy- specimens of the stock growing of our State. The Turkeys, Geese, Ducks and Chickens, wore fit representatives of their respective classes, and were spread over tho tables in great numbers. .,-....■.-. The Butter exhibited, not only sustained, but added to thei reputation of our butter makers. Scarcely rariy but yellow, "butter was seen; and that of line flavor and tastefully done up. It is a self evident proposition now, that our State is* to be a butter making one, second to no other. In no one agricultural product has the State made more satisfactory progress. •■'-'>' • ■ :-*. Among the specimens, was * one of May- Butter, exhibited and made by Mrs. Patter- so^ of Jeffersonville. tfo,- premium -was offered for fius kind, but none was'more de- Yi serving. It wa* sweet, firm, and a rich yel low color, put up with 'crushed sugar; and' saltpeter, in addition to the usual salt. " Ofthe. Vegetables, .we noticed-potatoes,: Irish: and "sweet, -beans, hominy, -turnips' - Squashes, onions, cabbage**-. &c.
