Indianapolis, January 6th, 1853- The annual session of the State Board of Agriculture, was convened at 1 o'clock, this day, in the Supreme Court Room, Gov. Wright in the chair. The following members of the Board were present. Joseph A. Wright, of Marion, Alexander. Stevenson, of Putnam, Jacob B. Harris, of Switzerland* J6sF.pn Orr, of Laporte,, David P. Holloway, of Wayne, George W. Brown, of Shelby, George K. Steele, of Parke. The following gentlemen, as delegates from the several county societies also were present. Allen county—I. D. G. Nelson. Bartholomew county—S. H. Kridelbaugh. Carroll county—Isaac Jackson. Clark county—F. R. Lewis. Dearborn county—Seth Piatt. Decatur county—0. Thompson. DeKalb and Steuben counties—M'Conflell. Elkh&rt county—Robert Lowry. Payette county-—Matthew R. Hull. Fountain county—-G. G. Wagoner. Gibson county—George B. Graff. Hendricks county—W. H. Smith. Henry county—W. A. Rifner. Jefferson courity—John Smock; Johnson county—R. S. Hicks. Knox county—John T. Free]and. Lagrange county—John Kromer and Christopher Cory. Laporto county—W; J. Walker. Marion county—Calvin Fletcher; Ohio nnd Switzerland counties—John Hall. Putnam county—John Hanna. Randolph county-^-A. Stone. Rush county—Jesse Morgan. Shelby county—Charles Fishback; Tippecanoe county—John Levering; Vigo county—Thomas Durham. Wayne county--—W. T. Dennis; On motion of Dr. Fishback, the essays presented were referred to a committee consisting of Messrs. Fishback, Orr and Holloway. On motion of Mr. Levering, it was Resolved, That the State Board of Agriculture invite the members of the Senate and House of Representatives to attend their evening meetings, and participate in the general discussions of the Board; and that the Speaker be requested to ask the use of the hall for the evening meetings of the Board. On motion, Messrs. Dennis, Smith and Mc- Connell were appointed a committee to report business for the Board. On motion of Mr. Levering, it was Resolved, That the Secretary he instructed to j forward to Messrs. Duryee, Forsyth & Co.'; of Rochester, N. Y., a cup, as a substitute for the j cash premium to which they are entitled for superior cattle scales, bank safe«nd depot scales, exhibited at the recent State Fair. On motion of Dr. Fishback, it was Resolved, That this Board do adjourn from 2 to 3 o'clock, to hear the Governor's message. Mr.' Dennis submitted the following resolution: Resolved, That the premium of $10 on cattle scales, be awarded to Duryee, Forsythe & Co., of Rochester, for the scales put up by them at the State Fair; which was referred, with all matters to the Executive committee, to which committee, Mr. Dennis was.'on motion, added. The President laid before the Board a communication from the Secretary of State of California, asking a copy of the annual report of this Board, for the use of their State Library; whereupon, it was Ordered, That five copies of our first annual report be presented to the State Library of California, with the respects of the Board. The committee on business made the following report: The committee to report business for the action of the Board, respectfully report as follows: 1st. Election of members of the State Board. 2d. Appointment of Executive committee. 3.1. Appointment of committee to report a list of premiums and appoint Judges. 4th. A committee on the.classification and names, of fruits, grains and vegetables. 5th. A committee to settle with the Treasurer. 6th. The appointment of two Vice Presidents as officers of this Society. 7th. Instructions to the Secretary in reference to the publication of the annual report. Which report was concurred in. On motion of Dr. Fishback, it was Resolved, That the Board will now consider the business reported by the committee, in order; when, On motion of Governor Wright, it was ordered that the election of members of the State Board, to fill the vacancies of those whose terms will expire at this session, shall take place to-morrow morning, at 10 o'clock. On motion of Mr. Holloway, it was ordered that the appointment of the Executive committee be postponed until tomorrow. On motion, Messrs. Warder, Orr, Nelson, Kromer, Aldridge and Hall were appointed a committee on the classification and names of fruits, grains and vegetables. On motion, Messrs. Fletcher, Hull and Stone were appointed to settle with the Treasurer of this Board.
