There appears to be some misunderstanding regarding the live stock, exhibition at the forthcoming State Fair and Exposition of Indiana. ; AH kinds of questions'1 are • asked of .the managers, and of conrse'an- swered individually, but for the benefit of stock-raisers who read the Farmer, the Secretary desires to publish the following statement, or explanation: Live stock may be displayed npon the grounds at any time "after the opening day of the Exhibition, if exhibitors desire to do so, bnt there is.no compulsion. The crowd of people will set in on the opening day, September 10, ahd 'doubtless many stoek dealers will embrace the excellent "opportunity offered for taking orders. : ..' ., Y ''.'■-..'■ ■By the programme adopted, all entries should be made by two-o'clock P. M.. of Tuesday, September 30, and this regulation will be adhered to, unless sufficient cause is shown for deviation. In case of accident ' or 'unavoidable delay in arrivals, entries 'may, beY made a few hours later than that stated, as has been .the case heretofore at the/ State&air, thou gh it is desirable that all entries be made by ten o'clock A. M.;, Wednesday, October 1, as the books go into the hands of committees at that hour. 4 ; The exhibition of live stock continues to and includes October 10. Stock once entered will not be. allowed to be withdrawn until the close of the exhibition, except by consent of the superintendent in charge .of the department. ■ Animals not entered roj; exhibition, or shown in competition, will' not be permitted to occupy stalls or pens at any time, and if found therein, the owners will be charged at the rate of two doi- j lars per day for each, stall or pen so occu-i pied." The,idea that the State Fair,and the Exposition are separate exhibitions, is erroneous. They are one and the same show. One admission ticket admits to all parts of the buildings and: grounds,' the whole constituting an exhibition unparalleled in scope and extent by any similar enterprise in the United States. i - " ■] . Tbe Secretary desires all owners of herds of cattle, who intend to exhibit, to favor him with- their names and address at as early -a date' as possible, together with the number of animals tbey will exhibit. This list is desired for purposes of publication. Stock raisers in States bordering on Indiana, are especially solicited to place their stock on exhibition here, if for a limited time duly.- The pens and stalls provided are urfexcelled by any State Fair in the country, and the time track, though but a half mile in length, is kept in excellent order, and. will be at all .times open for,the exercise of animals. Arrangements have been perfected by which an ample supply .of water will be furnished on the ground for the free use of. man and beast The supervision of horses in this department, is in the hands of T.
