Dear Winter
I have received your king letter also
the picture. I am gratefull [grateful] for the present, and hope
to prove myself. So, the reminiscence you have allu-
ded to makes me feel as if I would rather be in
the Camp and in Logansport than here, after being
so long away the aborigines. You must be aware
that I still have a warm feeling of Friendship for
them. Yes! as I stated before to you I have frequently
regretted that you was not with me on the route to Council
Bluffs, we went the whole route by land and of course
travelled slow and there was ample time to afford an
artist the oportunity of Excercissing his talent.
rest assured my Dr friend
that I am under obligations to you for your kindness
for allowing me to Show you Sketches made at Kewa
nay [Keewawnay] village to those who I know appreciate them.
I expect to start forthwith to Washington City write
me there, remember Me to all friends, particularly Doc
Jarrolaman [Jerrolamen] Say to him that I will write him shortly
and tell him news / I have many friends in the
Indian Department and if I can do you any favors it
will afford me pleasure. remember me to my
Good Fd. C. Vigus and lady, - as respects the
