STATED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TRUSTEES OF PURDUE UNIVERSITY 361 Room 326, Purdue Memorial Center Trustees' Room. Executive Building I. NOTICE OF MEETING. September 16-17. 1969 The Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University convened in stated meeting in Room 326. Purdue Memorial Center, at 8:03 pm on Tuesday. September 16. 1969. pursuant to the following notice mailed to each member of the Board by the Secretary on August 29, 1969: In accordance with provisions of the Bylaws, there will be a stated meeting of the Board ot Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue Univer¬ sity convening at approximately 7:45 pm EDT on Tuesday. September 16. 1969, in Room 326. Purdue Memorial Center, and at 9:00 am EDT on Wednesday, September 17, 1969. inthe Trustees' Room of the Executive Building of the University, in order to: 1. Consider and act upon bids for the following construction projects: a, Turkey House b. Purdue Memorial Union - Remodel West Cafeteria c Grissom Hall - Remodel Room 101; 2, Consider and act upon any other matter or business which may come before said meeting. Earlier in the day. Trustees had attended the Annual Meetings of the Members and the Directors of the Indiana-Purdue Foundation at Fort Wayne, held at the Indiana-Purdue Regional Campus at Fort Wayne, At 4:30 pm, Trustees and their spouses were guests at a reception held in Purdue Memorial Union by members of Junior Class Government. IL PRELIMINARY REPORT OF PROPOSAL CONCERNING GUEST HOURS POLICY. . Immediately following dinner in the Lafayette Room, Purdue Memorial Union. Deans Stone and Roberts reported briefly concerning the proposal for a new guest hours policy to be presented by students in the general session (IV), Dean Stone said the proposal for a change in the present policy re guests in student rooms, developed over the past year by a group of responsible students, seems reasonable and fair, recognizes the need for some kind of control, and is one for which the students will assume responsibility. Policies at other institutions "were examined, and Purdue housing units were canvassed for suggestions and indication of desires. The students have worked out solutions for problems which arose, and are aware of other problems which must be solved if the proposal is approved. The basic desire expressed is the feeling of a need for privacy, i. e, , for a place where the student can withdraw from the crowd. Dean Roberts said he felt that the students have made a sincere effort to develop a proposal in keeping with the standards of Purdue University, They
