LAFAYETTE, INDIANA. -Eeh^a^ £^- Ct^jUL o The Board of Trustees convened in open session on Monday, February 24, 1919, at 10:00 o'clock a.m., pursuant to a resolution adopted at the previous meeting,to hear communications and state¬ ments from the Committee of Ten of the Alumni Association, regard¬ ing alumni unrest and dissatisfaction, or any other matter that might be desired to be presented to the Board. Present: Trustees: Stuart, Reynolds, Noel, Hillenbrand, Isenbarger, Breaks, Hobbs, Chandler; Presiaent Stone; Alumni; David B. Ross, '93, O.C. noss, '95, Bennett Taylor, '87. G.W. Morey. '97. E.M. Stuart acted as Chairman. Trustee Noel was requested to act as Secretary in the absence of the Secretary, but declined on the ground that he would probably have to leave before the meeting was over. By consent, H.A. Couch, the shorthand reporter employed by the Board to report the discussion at the meeting, acted as Secretary. The brief prepared by the Committee of Ten was submitted to the Board, and a full discussion had between the various mem¬ bers of the Board, the members of the alumni and others present. At 12:30 o'clock p.m., adjourned to meet at 1:30 o'clock p.m., at which hour the Board reconvened in executive session, Mr. W.V. Stuart in the Chair. Trustee Noel announced to the Board that the Supreme Court had decided that Purdue University had been unjustly kept out of certain funds for five years, amounting to approximately $600,000; that Governor Qoodrich had consulted with Mr. Noel, Mr. Reynolds and others, and that the Governor was of the opinion that a sudden demand for this $oO0,000.00, which should have been paid from yettr to year in previous administrations would seriously embarrass the finances of the state and jeopardise current appropriations.Trustee Noel stated that Senator Southworth had seen him and had informed ^lira that the ranking members of the Ways and Means Committees of hoth House and Senate could see their way clear to permit the tegular current appropriations for the University to be unimpaired,
