STATED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
TRUSTEES OF PURDUE UNIVERSITY
November 4, 2005
A meeting of the Board of Trustees was held in Room 326, Stewart Center, West Lafayette, Indiana at 8:30 a.m. on November 4, 2005.
The following Trustees were present: McGinley (Chairman), Birck, Cumberbatch, Edmondson, Hardin, Oesterie, Peterson, Powers, Spurgeon, Townsend.
Also in attendance were President Jischke, Provost Mason, Executive Vice President and Treasurer Olsen, Vice President and Assistant Treasurer Almond, Legal Counsel Benton, and Secretary Behringer. Present by invitation to make a report to the Board was Dean Christiansen; Chancellor Wartell, Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne; Professor Thomas Brady, Chair, Faculty Senate, Purdue North Central; Mr. Robin Dunn, President, Student Government, Purdue University Calumet.
I. FUTURE MEETING SCHEDULE.
Chairman McGinley drew attention to the listing of future meetings and commencements and asked the Trustees to put these dates on their calendars.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Upon proper motion duly seconded, the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve the minutes of the following meetings:
Executive Sessions, September 22, 2005 and September 23, 2005 Stated Meeting, September 24, 2005
III. REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT.
President Jischke reported that the Purdue Research Foundation was recognized by the Association of University Parks for "Excellence in Technology Transfer." This award is presented annually to the Association member that best demonstrates success in the commercialization of university research. Dr. Jischke expressed appreciation for "The Boilermaker" statue which is being dedicated this afternoon to honor Cari Christian Grotnes, son of a 19"^ century immigrant from Norway. Three generations of the Grotnes family have been educated at Purdue. He also highlighted several announcements made during the Campaign for Purdue celebrations and thanked all of the donors who have
