Banks, Beem, Johnson, Barrett, Van Natta, Stuart, Downing, & StemenMr. Chas Major presented his appointment as a Trustee, and took his seat with the Board.Mr. Major’s appointment runs to July 1 – 1903 or for the unexpired term for which Mr. O’Brien was appointed.Minutes of last meeting Nov 24 – 1902 read and approved.In connection with the coming Exposition at St. Louis, President Stone stated that Congress had appropriated the sum of $100,000. towards the expenses of exhibit by the Land grand colleges.Prof H.A. Huston’s resignation as Director of Station and Prof of Agri Chemistry was presented, read and on Mr. Johnson’s motion accepted by the Board, and Prest [President] Stone requested to draft suitable resolutions regarding the Board’s appreciation of the services of the Professor.The matter of the selection of a successor to Prof Huston was discussed by the Board, and finally referred to Prest [President] Stone with power to act.Dr Stone presented a written communication regarding changes in Faculty, paper received, read, and on motion of Mr. Banks approved.To the Board of Trustees of Purdue Univ.GentlemenI beg to report the following changes in the Faculty – Joseph Auken Thaler to be Instructor in Applied Mechanics from Jan 1 to July 1 – 1902 at $750. because of the absence of Professor Holt.Alfred Theodor Wiancko to be Associate Professor of Agriculture after January 1 – 1903 at an annual salary of $1400. to be paid one-half from the University and one-half from the Station fundsLewellyn V. Ludy. An account of added work and responsibility in the absences of Professor Holt, to receive $100. addition to years salary.William H. Test. Assistant Professor of Chemistry was granted leave of absence without pay, on account of ill health Jan. 1 to end of year. To carry on the work of the department Instructor Edward Mahin was given additional classes and responsibilities, and an increase in salary of $200. and Mr Louis Agassiz Test was engaged as Instructor in Chemistry for six months at $60. per month.Benjamin c. Waldenmeier Instructor in Machine Design, withdrew from his engagement February 1
