Mr. Oliver, President of the Board, being absent at the opening, and Mr. Ellsworth, Secretary of the Board being absent on account of illness, on motion of Mr. Stuart seconded by Mr. Noel, Mr. Hobbs was chosen Chairman of the meeting and Mr. Downing was chosen temporary Secretary.     The roll was called and all members were present except Mr. Oliver.Mr. W.V. Stuart presented his credentials of appointment as a member of the board, following which congratulations were extended by various members upon his return to the Board. His appointment extends from April 12, 1918, to February 2, 1924, or until his successor is appointed and qualified.The minutes of the last meeting of the Board were read by Dr. Stone, which were approved by the Board by consent.Mr. Reynolds explained his absence from the last meeting of the Board.At this point, Mr. Oliver, President of the Board appeared and assumed his place as President.Mr. Noel, Chairman of the Committee, made a verbal report on the Davis Farm in Randolph County, and on motion of Mr. Stuart, seconded by Mr. Hillenbrand, and carried, the Committee was continued for further actions and report.Mr. Downing, Chairman of the Agricultural Committee, made a report in writing of matters concerning the University Farm, the Edgewood Farm, and the Wilson Farm, which reads as follows:To the Board of Trustees of Purdue UniversityGentlemen:The Agricultural Committee of the Board, after a careful investigation of the conditions of the University Farm, respectfully recommend that immediate steps be taken to erect a horse barn adequate for the purposes of the University Farm, to replace the barn which was destroyed by fire in 1911.
