A. Hillenbrand presented his appointment to the Board of Trustees; said appointment runs to July 1, 1915.Minutes of meetings Sept 14, October 28, and Dec 19, 1912 were read and approved.Mr. Ade was requested, when he makes his inspection trip to Minnesota, to ascertain if the W. C. Smith Bequest Lands are not non-taxable, being State property.The Chair delegated Mr. Stuart to draft resolutions regarding the death of Mr. Major, a member of the Board.President Stone presented the following written communications:1st. Regarding resignation of Prof. Emma Mont McRae. Mr. Ade was selected to form the proper resolution of regret and of loss to Purdue University by the withdrawal of Prof. McRae:June 6th, 1913To the Board of Trustees:Professor Emma Mont McRae, after a service of twenty-six years, has announced her desire to retire from active teaching. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has approved of her application to be given a retiring allowance to which she is entitled by reason of age and terms of service.All members of the University will regret the retirement of Mrs. McRae, whose teaching has been superior and whose influence far-reaching for many years.I recommend that her request for release be granted and that the action of the Carnegie Foundation in granting the retiring allowance be approved.Very respectfullyW.E. Stone (signed)2nd. List of candidates for degrees as recommended by President and Faculty, covering (1st) advanced degrees; (2nd) regular degrees;June 9th, 1913.To the Board of Trustees:The faculty recommend the following named persons as candidates for advanced degrees for the approval of the Board of Trustees and recommend that the president of the University be authorized to confer the respective degrees on June 11th, 1913, namely: Master of Science 7; Electrical Engineer 6; Mechanical Engineer, 7; Civil Engineer 10; Master of Science in Agriculture 1; Respectfully,W.E.
