Harris, Indianapolis.The following members of the Board of Trustees were present: Messrs Harris, Hobbs, Ade, Hillenbrand, Oliver, Purcell, Downing and Stuart. Others present: Doctor Stone, Prof Goss, Prof Skinner, Prof Christie, Mr. Fishel, Mr. Clove, Mr. MaishThe following resolution was moved by Mr. Downing:“Resolved, That it is the sense of this Board that it is not the Legislative intent of the Act of March 10th, 1913:To require that the University shall pay the expenses necessary to carry on the experiment station, the extension work, and other duties imposed by the statute, beyond and apart from the instructional department of the University, out of the tax levied for its maintenance.And that a committee be appointed in connection with Mr. Simms, our counsel, to prepare and submit to his Excellency the Governor and other proper officers of the State, a detailed statement of the duties resting upon the University; to the end that his Excellency and others may be fully advised of the statutes of Congress and of the State relative to the true meaning and intent of said Act.”The motion was seconded by Mr. Stuart and unanimously adopted.The President of the Board of Trustees appointed the following committee: Messrs Downing, Ade, Stuart, Oliver and Purcell.The meeting adjourned.Addison C.
