Stuart, Banks, Beem, Johnson, Van Natta, Harrison & Martin.Minutes of last meeting June 8 read and with some minor changes approved.Appointments of Messrs. Johnson, Beem & O’Brien as members of the Board of Trustees were received for record; said appointments bear date of July 1/97, and run for a period of six years, all properly acknowledged.Authority was given Committee (appointed by the Board Apr 27 to devise means for transmission of power to Electrical Lab) to also control the disbursement in so far as any building is concerned of the special appropriations as follows: Repairs $3500. Electrical Engineering $5000. & Engineering Dept $10,000. and ratifying any action heretofore taken by said Committee in these matters.The Building Committee made its report on addition to Electrical Laboratory. On Mr. Harrison’s motion report received, approved & ordered recorded & reads as follows:To The Board of Trustees of Purdue UniversityGentlemen:We the undersigned, members of the Committee on the construction of the addition to the Electrical Building, beg leave to report that, while the brick work done by Mr. M.E. Burshby is not strictly in accordance with the terms of the contract, the brick being rough and uneven, particularly on the inside, we nevertheless believe the building to be created in a substantial manner, and deem it best to pay Mr Burshby the full amount called for by the contract.J.H. SmartW.F.M. GossCharles B. StuartBuilding CommitteeA letter from Professor Troop was read, regarding the establishment of Experimental orchards; on Mr. Banks’ motion the matter was referred to a Committee consisting of Mr. Beem & Professor Plumb with instruction to meet and consult with the State Horticultural Society, and report to the Board.The following resolutions were passed by the Board:Resolved that the President of the Board of Trustees be, and he is hereby authorized to receipt for all money due and payable to the Board, from any source whatever, and to endorse checks and drafts in its name and on its behalf, and discharge for the same to give whenever required.
