I I.    NOTICE OF MEETING.

The Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University convened in stated meeting in the Trustees' Room of the Executive Building of Purdue Uni¬ versity at 3:05 p.m.. ,  Saturday,  May 31,   1952,  pursuant to the following notice sent to eacli member of the Board by the' Secretary on May 5,   1952:
Iii accordance with the provisions of the By-Laws,  there will be a stated meeting of the Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University on Saturday,  May 31,   1952,  convening at 2:00 p.m.   GST (3:00 p.m.   DST) in the Trustees' Room of the  Executive Building of the University in order to consider and act upon any nnatter or busi- . ness that may come before said meeting.

President Hanley called the meeting to order at 3:05 p. na.  (DST).    All members of the Board except one were present as follows:   Messrs. Anderson, Branigin, Hanley,  Kettler,  Lynn,  O'Brien,  Thompson and Wilson.    The absence .of Mrs.   Van Ness was excused by consent.    Also present were President Hovde, Treasurer Stewart,   Comptroller Kettler, Secretary Hockema,  and Assistant Secretary Skinner.    .
m.    LETTER OF ACKNOWLEDGMENT.
Secretary Hockema presented an acknowledgment from the family of Mr. Charles R.  Deets for flowers sent to the funeral of Mr.  Deets.
By consent the letter of acknowledgment was received and ordered filed.
IV. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR DEAN G. L. JENKINS.
President Hovde recommended that a leave of absence be granted to Dean G.  L.  Jenkins,. School of Pharmacy,  for the period from June.6,   1952, to August 8,   1952,  with pay, to permit him to participate in the NROTC summer cruise to Europe.    During Dean Jenkins' absence Professor J.  E.  Christian will serve as Acting Dean.
After discussion and by consent the leave of absence for Dean G.   L.  Jenkins was approved as recommended.
V. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR J.   L.   LINGO.
President Hovde recommended that a leave of absence be granted to Professor J.  L.   Lingo, Associate Professor of Traffic Safety Education, for a period of three months beginning July 1,   1952, with one month as vacation with pay and two months without pay, to permit him to accept a special assignment related to administration of public safety, for the Department of State in Germany. :
After discussion and by consent the leave of absence for Professor J.  L. Lingo was approved as recommended.
