259 EXECUTIVE SESSION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TRUSTEES OF PURDUE UNIVERSITY Purdue Memorial Union Trustees' Room, Executive Building November 4, 1970 A. ROLL CALL, WEDNESDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 4, 1970, President Knoy convened the Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University in Executive Session at 9:00 am on Wednesday, November 4, 1970, in the Directors' Dining Room of Purdue Memorial Union, All members of the Board were present as follows: Mrs, Myers, Messrs, Brumfield, Graham, Heine, Hillenbrand, Knoy, Rumely, Walb and Wilson, Also present were Vice President and Treasurer Freehafer, Counsel Schilling, and Messrs. Wade (Director of Physical Plant) and DeMent (Director of Buildings and Grounds, Physical Plant). B. ADOPTION OF INTERIM POLICY IN HANDLING BOMB THREATS. Messrs, Freehafer, DeMent and Wade presented the interim policy in handling bomb threats which had been developed by a committee of the Board of Trustees, Legal Counsel and the administration "and had been sent by mail to all Trustees (C, Executive Session, September 16, 1970). On motion duly made, seconded" and carried, the interim policy was adopted by the full Board (Copy filed -with Minute Material for Executive Session). C. RECESS. The Executive Session recessed -until later in the day. D. EXECUTIVE SESSION RECONVENED. At 11:50 am, immediately following adjournment of the regular session, the Board of Trustees -wras reconvened in Executive Session by President Knoy in the Trustees' Room of the Executive Building. All Trustees, officers and University administration who had been present for the regular session re¬ mained for the Executive Session. E. REPORT RE APPOINTMENT, SERVICE AND RESIGNATION OF PROFESSOR M. J. MAJOR. Speaking on behalf of Vice President Hawkins, who was suffering a throat disability, Dr, Hicks reported concerning the employment, service and resigna¬ tion of Assistant Professor M, J. Major, Creative Arts (PC 10701, this meet¬ ing). Under his responsibility for operation of "Poverty Theater, " Professor Major undertook to present a play he had written. When it was learned that, in the course of the play, the cast would askthe audience to pledge allegiance to
