Minutes of November 9th-1891 read & approved. The Board authorized the printing of 7000 University catalogues for the school year of 1892-3Mr. Wiley’s motion regarding the proposed extension of the street railway West along the line of University grounds was read and adopted. Said resolution reading as follows. Whereas it has come to the knowledge of the Board, that the street railway company in conformity with its agreement with other parties to extend its line of electric street railway, from its present Western terminus West in front of the University grounds and Whereas it is believed by the Board that it would be an injury to the University property to have such line of street railway constructed on either side of State Street; Therefore be it resolved That the whole matter be referred to the Prest. [President] of the Board and Dr. Smart and that they have power to act in the premises, and to prevent by legal proceedings, if found necessary such construction of said street railway line. On Mr. Johnson’s motion the [third?] or [Library?] & Laboratory fee was raised as follows, Freshman Class from $2 to $3 and Sophomore class from $3 to $4 per term for the coming school year. The fees of the other classes remaining as they now are. On Mr. Davidson’s motion the Building Committee was directed to settle with Johnson Gunstra & Co. (balance for construction of new Mech. Eng. Laboratory) for $150 the amount proposed by J.F. & Co as a compromise last January. A communication from Dr. Stone & Prof. Green was read asking for an increase of salary for Albert Lincoln Janitor & Storekeeper for Chemical & Pharm. Depts. and on motion of Mr. Johnson the salary was raised to $40 per month beginning Jan. 1-1902Dr. Smart and Prof. Goss presented views in regard to the best plan of advertising the University; The latter stated to the Board that we could present a full front page display in the Scientific American with a full description of same for $250. On Mr. Johnson’s motion Prest. Smart was authorized to contract for same. On recommendation of Prof. Plumb and motion of Mr. Davidson the salary of W.F. Cash is raised from $40 [to] 250 per month from Mch. 1-1892 on condition that he take charge of and superintend the care of stock. This to remain in force until further ordered. On motion of Mr. Banks Prof. Plumb was authorized to expend no to exceed $20 for a “Cooling Creamery.” On motion the usual mileage & per diem was obtained. Meeting adjourned. E.A. Ellsworth, Secy.
