Present President Ratliff, and trustees Edgerton, Williams, Hargrove, Ragan and Peddle. A general conference was had upon the condition and interests of Purdue University, and then the Board adjourned to re-assemble to-morrow morning at 9 o’clock. June 6th, 1883. Wednesday. (At University.)Pursuant to adjournment the Board re-assembled this morning at 9 o’clock at the University. Present as yesterday. Also present President White of the Faculty. The minutes of the last two sessions of the Board were read and approved. Col. Williams then laid before the Board the following letters of resignation from Professors Herron, Maxwell and Wiley and from E.E. Smith, Principal of the Academy, viz: From Prof. D.G. Herron, “Purdue University, May 26, 1883. Hon. John S. Williams, Dear Sir, Please present at the earliest opportunity this my resignation of the chair of Mathematics which I have held in Purdue University. With my best wishes for the success of the Institution and with the hope that the Board of Trustees may find a better man for the place, I am Very respectfully yoursD.G. Herron.” From Prof. Jno.
