Monday 1888Oct. 15 Board met in pursuance to a call by President Stuart at the Lahr House in Lafayette at 7-30 o’clock p.m. Present Banks, Reagan and Stuart. Also President Smart of the University. 1. The Bill of Dr. [Himo?] for professional services in attending to the injuries of a farm hand occasioned by the kick of one of the farm horses was allowed and ordered paid. 2. The bill of Mrs. Joy for preparing third story of Ladies Hall was allowed and ordered paid. 3. The bill of William Wallace & Bro. for Plumbing Experiment Station was received and ordered filed:--the work being done to the satisfaction of the Board. 4. A petition of G.W. Ging and others for a street on the east of Experiment Station was received and referred to a committee consisting of Dr. Smart, Prof. Craig, C.B. Stuart and M.C. Stevens. 5. Dr. Smart reported the following additions to the force of instructors and assistants:Mr. Harper assistant in Pharmacy at $200—per school yearC.A. Wolff assistant director of Station of $1000 per school yearWm. Brady assistant Chemist at $200 per school year 6. The following post graduates we [were] employed to construct Physical and Chemical Apparatus:-- Frank Brady at $100Harry Land at $100Wm. J. Lutz at $1007. The matter of changing the insurance on the Boiler House was referred to Dr. Smart and Mr. Peirce with power to act. 8. The resignation of Prof. Thompson was received and placed on file. Mr. Stuart reported that he had accepted the resignation and that he had directed Dr. Smart to supply the place. Dr. Smart reported that he had employed
