Also President Smart of the University. 1. Prof. Goss having having [sic] asked leave of absence for the purpose of better fitting himself for the duties of his position on motion it was unanimously ordered that he be granted leave of absence from April 1, (1889) on full pay for the rest of the college year; it being understood that he makes the necessary arrangements with his associates for carrying on his work without additional cost to the University. 2. On motion of Mr. Banks the employment of Mr. Fankboner as assistant Chemist in the experiment Station was authorized at $40.00 per month. 3. On motion of Mr. Bybee the President was authorized to employ Mr. Rittenhouse at $50.00 per month as assistant in the wood shop. 4. On motion of Mr. Banks the Secretary was authorized to issue warrants on the Treasurer in payment of the pressing debts of the University to an amount not exceeding ten thousand (10000) dollars. 5. In the payment of interest the secretary is directed to keep a correct statement of the different items and that a bill be made in favor of the Treasurer for the full amount and paid in one warrant, the same not to exceed $150.006. On motion of Mr. Banks it was ordered that the expenses incurred in attending Farmers’ Institutes be equitably divided between the University and Experiment Station. 7. On motion of Mr. Ragan the Faculty were ordered to prepare and publish a new Catalogue and that an edition of 6000 copies be issued. The Board then adjourned to meet at the University tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock.
