At a meeting of the Board duly called by President Ratliff held at the Lahr House Lafayette the following members of the Board were present; viz: President Ratliff, Adison Bybee, W.A. Banks, S. Hargrove and C.B. Stuart. President Smart laid before the Board the following communication which was referred to Messrs. Bybee and Banks who are directed to report thereon at a future session. To The Board of Trustees of Purdue University; I. On the 30th day of January, 1888, I made the following recommendation to the Board concerning Station Expenses from July 1st, 1887 to Dec. 31, 1887 to wit;--“A proper proportion of the salaries of these men was justly chargeable to the Station and would have been paid therefrom, had the money been available. Considerable expense also has been incurred in printing and supplies necessary to carry on the experiments and to publish the results thereof. I recommend that the University be reimbursed for all these expenditures out of the Station Money, as soon as it becomes available.”This recommendation was adopted. The amount due to the University was estimated at that time but I subsequently discovered that the estimate was incorrect and a transfer of the moneys of the station to the University, as ordered by the Board, was never made. Under date of April 16th, 1888, I requested Professors Stevens, Latta and Swan to examine the records carefully and to report to me the amount paid out of the University funds on behalf of the Experimental Station for the Period beginning July 1st, 1887 and ending December 31st, 1887. I herewith submit their report for your consideration. (see schedule marked “A”)II. I hereby call your attention to a formal order of the Board taken January 30th, 1888, as follows, viz: “Resolved, That the Purdue Experiment farm, farm buildings, implements, stock and all
