Present, President Ratliff, Hargrove, Banks and Stuart. Matters pertaining to Experimental Station were considered and the following report from President Smart was read, considered and adopted. See report A page 293. The following resolution was on motion adopted, viz: Resolved—That the Purdue Experiment farm, farm buildings, implements, stock, and all property connected with the old Purdue Experiment Station be and are hereby rented to the New Experiment Station, provided—1. That in compensation to the University for the use thereof, whatever farm products beyond what may be needed for the use of the station and for the proper feeding of its stock shall belong to the University, and provided2. That the farm horses and wagons may be used, when needed, to haul University supplies from the city of Lafayette to the University. On motion of Mr. Banks it is ordered that Dr. Smart be authorised [authorized] to employ a competent Professor to take the place of Prof. Coulter (who is transferred to the chair of Botany and Zoology) at a salary not to exceed $1,400 per annum. On motion it is Resolved that the salary of Prof. Coulter be increased to $1,600—from and after Sept. 1, 1888. The following rules and regulations for the Experiment Station were after careful consideration adopted. Rules & Regulations1. The Purdue Experiment Station is hereby declared to be a Department of Purdue University and is like other Departments under the general control of the President of the University. 2. The Professor of Agriculture of Purdue University is made ex officio the Director of the Purdue Experiment Station. 3. The director and chiefs of Divisions and Assistants connected with the Station are subject to the same rules as those which govern the members of the Faculty of the University unless otherwise provided.
