Stein in La Fayette; Present, the Genl. Manson and Mess. [Messieurs] Sutherland, Ratliff, Wells and Haynes; also present John C. Dobelbower, Esq.—Mr. Sutherland was called to the chair. The Secretary reported to the Board that he had been notified by Governor Williams that since the last session of the Board the Hon. John R. Coffroth had filed with him his written resignation as Trustee of Purdue University. Whereupon Mr. Dobelbower presented his Commission, attested by Governor James D. Williams and the Seal of the State, dated Decr. [December] 21, 1877 and appointing Mr. John C. Dobelbower a Trustee of Purdue University to fill the vacancy occasioned by the Resignation of Mr. Coffroth for the residue of the term of Mr. Coffroth ending August 25, 1878. Mr. Dobelbower also presented his oath of office, which was ordered to be spread on the Minute Book and filed by the Secretary—the same reading as follows, viz:“The State of IndianaTippecanoe County, ss. [sub-state]John C. Dobelbower being duly sworn according to law on his oath says that he will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Indiana, and that he will faithfully and to the best of his abilities perform his duties as Trustee of Purdue University. John C. DobelbowerSubscribed and sworn to on this 26th day of December 1877, before me the undersigned, a Notary Public in and for said County, as witness my hand and Notarial seal. A.J.
