[Messieurs] Coffroth, Purdue, Burke, Nelson, Sutherland, Bowman and Peirce present. A quorum being present on motion of Dr. Bowman J.D.G. Nelson was appointed president pro tem and Martin L. Peirce Secretary pro tem. And thereupon the minutes of last meeting was read and approved. By request the Treasurer reported the condition of the University fund as reported by him to Gov. Baker on the 27th Day of December 1871, and on motion it was ordered to be filed, and spread on the record, and reads as follows, to wit: College land Scrip sold for $212,238.50Interest received to date $70,371.06[Total ] $282,609.56On handIn 5/20 U.S. Registered Bonds $245,000.00In 5/20 U.S. Coupon Bonds $5,000.00Premium paid in purchase bonds $19,752.84Cost of Bonds $269,752.87Balance in Treasury $12,856.69. $282,609.56On motion of J.R. Coffroth the following preamble and resolutions were read, considered, and passed unanimously, to wit: Whereas there is now in the Treasury of the Purdue University two hundred thousand dollars in U.S. 5/20 Gold bonds, registered in the name of the “Indiana Agricultural College” forty five thousand dollars of like bonds registered in the name of “M.L. Peirce Treasurer of Purdue University” and five thousand of like Coupon Bonds and Whereas it is desirable that all said quarter of a million of Bonds be changed and registered in the name of “Purdue University.” Therefore Resolved that M.L. Peirce Treasurer Purdue University be authorized to surrender the Certificates of the aforesaid Bonds to the United States, and have the same transferred to the Purdue University, and new Certificates issued therefore. Resolved that the Treasurer of the Board of Trustees M.L. Peirce be authorized for and on behalf of the Board of Trustees of Purdue University, to receive from the Treasurer of the United States, the interest as it may become due and payable on all United States bonds transferred to, and that may stand registered in the name of “Purdue University” and also that the Treasurer M.L. Peirce be authorized to appoint one or more attorneys for that purpose. On motion of Mr. Burk [Burke] ordered that J.D.G. Nelson & John Purdue be appointed
