The Board met in pursuance of a call of the Governor, at the Lahr House, in the City of Lafayette, on Monday the 21st day of November 1870. Present Hon. Conrad Baker Ex Officio President of the Board, Rev. Thomas Bowman D.D., John Purdue and Martin L. Peirce. The minutes of the previous meeting was [sic] read, approved and ordered to be signed. The Treasurer presented his report of the present financial Condition of the University fund, which was ordered spread on the minutes, and reads as follows, to wit:Amount now in the Treasury: $220,000.00 in registered 5/20 United States 6 per ct. [per cent] Bonds$15,000.00 in Coupon 5/20 United States 6 per ct. [per cent] Bonds$12,315.09 in money loaned on call.[Total] $247,315.09Having received of former Treasurer $200,000 in Registered, and $15,000.00 in Coupon Bonds, and purchased since $20,000 of the Registered Bonds.His cash account stands as follows.Treasurer Dr. [Debit] To amount rec’d. [received] of former Treasurer March 7, 1870. $23,080.51To amount realized from Sale $3,000 Gold int. [interest] May 10/70 [May 10, 1870]. $3,453.40To amount realized from Sale $3,000 Gold int. [interest] July 12/70 [July 12, 1870]. $3,355.91To amount realized from Sale $450 Gold int. [interest] July 12/70 July 12, 1870]. $500.05To amount realized from Sale $3,000 Gold int. [interest] Nov. 10/70 [November 10, 1870]. $3,337.15To Interest rec’d [received] Aug. 6/70 [August 6, 1870] as money loaned. $438.07Treasurer Claims De. $34,165.09By Purchase $20,000.00 registered 5/20 U.S. 6 per ct. [per cent] Bonds. $21,850.00Balance loaned on call. $12,315.09The President of the Board having received, since the last meeting of the Board, the resignation of Henry Taylor as a member of the Board of Trustees. On motion it was ordered that we proceed to Elect by ballot a successor to the said Taylor, to fill the vacancy occasioned by his resignation, and upon counting the ballots cast, it was ascertained and declared that the Hon. John A. Stein of Tippecanoe County was duly Elected to fill said vacancy. On motion ordered that we now proceed to Elect by Ballot to the Rev. Joseph F. Tuttle D.D. of Montgomery County, whose resignation of the Office of Trustee was received by the Governor, and filed
