The Trustees met this day, pursuant to a call of the Governor, at the Executive Rooms at Indianapolis; present John Purdue, M.L. Peirce, J. Sutherland, A.B. Claypool, B.C. Shaw and John A. Stein. Mr. Claypool was called to the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mr. Stein of the Committee to whom was referred the bill of Chase & Wilstock for legal services reported verbally that Mr. Coffroth of said Committee had requested him to say that he desired to be excused from acting on the subject referred. At Mr. Stein’s request the entire Committee was discharged and the bill of Chase and Wilstock was committed to Mr. Purdue who was directed to confer with the claimants and settle their bill and draw on the Treasurer for the amount which might be agreed upon as payable. On motion the bill of P.H. Kennelly of June 25/74 [25, 1874] for one walnut desk for the Superintendent, $18.00 was allowed and the Treasurer was ordered to pay the same. On motion of Mr. Peirce it was ordered that the matter of the construction of a barn on the 100-acre tract heretofore ordered, be suspended and laid over to the next meeting. On motion Mess. [Messieurs] Peirce and Stein were authorised [authorized] to hire an Engineer and assistant to do service in and about the Boiler and Gas House, and report their action to the next meeting. On motion the following allowances were made and the Secretary was directed to certify the same to the Auditor of State, viz: To John Purdue as Trustee, 1 days attend. [attendance] $3, mileage $6.40, $9.40To M.L. Peirce as Trustee, 1 days attend. [attendance] $3, mileage $6.40, $9.40To J.A. Stein as Trustee, 1 days attend. [attendance] $3, mileage $6.40, $9.40To B.C. Shaw as Trustee, 1 days attend. [attendance] $3, $3.00To A.B. Claypool as Trustee, 1 days attend. [attendance] $3, mileage $5, $8.00To J. Sutherland as Trustee, 1 days attend. [attendance] $3, mileage $15, 2 days transit $6, $24.00On motion the Board adjourned to meet at the University on Tuesday, October 20th at 4 P.M. Attest: J.A.
