Stein at La Fayette; present Hon. J.R. Coffroth, President and Messrs. [Messieurs] Sutherland, Wells, Manson, Haynes and Ratliff, Trustees: also President E.E. White. President White read to the Board a communication embodying his suggestions in reference to the buildings, internal arrangements etc. required for the interests of the University—which communication was taken under consideration by the Board. On motion of Gen. Manson, it was unanimously ordered that M.L. Peirce, Esq., the Treasurer, be instructed to draw without delay from the Treasurer of State the Five Thousand Dollars appropriated to Purdue University by the General Assembly of Indiana in the Specific Appropriation Bill, passed at its recent special session. On motion of Genl. Manson, it was ordered that the Treasurer, M.L. Peirce, Esq., be authorised [authorized] and directed to set apart Four thousand dollars ($4,000.00) of the interest of the Endowment Fund and appropriate the same to the payment of the current expenses of the University; to be refunded to said Fund as soon as any moneys, from the estate of John Purdue, deceased, come into the Treasury. It was ordered on Mr. Ratliff’s motion that after the present Collegiate year students shall be charged three dollars and twenty five cents, ($3.25) for board—the same to be collected by the keeper of the Boarding House and shall be in full of all compensation to him for board. On motion of Genl. Manson it was ordered that an amount not to exceed $1,000 shall be used in the improvement of the grounds of the University under charge of Prest. [President] White, Mr. Ratliff and Mr. Peirce—said amount to be refunded out of the $1,500 appropriated by the Legislature at its last session, (see sets Specl. [Special] sess. [session] 1877, pg. 13, sec.13)On motion of Mr. Wells, Prest. [President] White was instructed to have the roof of the Dormitory painted.
