STATED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TRUSTEES OF PURDUE UNIVERSITY
Executive Building October 21-22, 1942
I. NOTICE OF MEETING,
The Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue Universi-ty convened in the Trustees' Room in the Executive Building of Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana, on Vfednesday, October 21, 1942, at 10:20 A, M,, pursuant to the fol¬ lov/ing notice which had been sent to each member of the Board by the Secre¬ tary on October 1. 1942:
In accordance "with the provisions of the By-Laws, there will be an annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University on Vfednesday and Thursday, October 21-22, 1942, convening at 9:SO A, M, in the Trustees' Room of the Executive Building of the Universi-ty, in order to consider and act upon any matter or business that may come before said meeting.
The following amendment to the original notice had been sent to each member of the Board by the Secretary on October 7, 1942:
Since it is inconvenient for the members- of the Board of Trustees to be here for the Trustees* lifting before ten o'clock, this will in¬ form you that the meeting -VTill convene at 10;00 A, M, on V/ednesday, October 21, instead of 9:30 A, M.
II. ROLL CALL.
President Elliott presented to the Board letters of acknowledgment from , Mrs, Frederick H, Chapin, for flowers sent to the funeral of Dr, J. C, Arthur; i Mrs, Charles Francis Harding for flowers sent to the funeral of her husband;
The meeting was called to order at 10:20 A. M, by Vice-President Noel. The following Trustees were present: Miss McHale. Messrs, Hanley, Hillen¬ brand, Noel, Ruthenburg. Stuart, Sturm, and Thompson, constituting a majority and quorum of the Board.,
Mr. Allison E, Stuart reported that Mr, David E, Ross, President of the Board, had been critically ill since July 16, 1942. The members of the Board expressed deep concern over Mr. Ross*s condi-tion and ordered the Secretary to send flowers each week on behalf of the President of the University and the Board of Trustees,
After discussion and upon proper motion (Stuart-Hillenbrand) imanimously carried, the excuse for Mr. Ross's absence was accepted and approved.
Dr. Edv/ard C. Elliott, President of the University; Mr. R, B, Stewart, Con¬ troller of the University; and Mr. Frank C Hockema, Secretary to the Board, were also present.
