The Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University met in toe Trustees' P^om of toe Executive Building of toe University at 8:05 a.m.  (CSTj 9:05 a.m. CDT),    Thursday, May 12, 1949, pvirsuant to Minute XXXVI, Board meeting held April 20,    1949,    and furtoer pvcrsuant to toe following notice sent to each Trvistee ty toe Secretary on May 2, 1949:
President Stuart has instructed me to notii^ you that toere -win   be a special meeting of toe Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue Uni- ( versity on Thursday, May 12, 1949, convening at 8:00 a.m. GST (9:00 a.m.
DST) in toe Trustees* Room of toe Executive Bunding of toe University, in ca^er to:
1,      Consider and act upon toe budgets of toe University, toe :                              Agricultural E:q>eriment Stetion, toe Agricviltviral Extension Service, and toe Self-Si^pporting Eiiterprises for toe year 1949-1950J •

II. BOLL CALL.
President Stuart called toe meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. (CST). All memi- bers of the Board except Mr. O'Brien and Mr. Sherwood were present as fonows: Mrs. Van Ness, Messrs. Canand, Cole, Hanley, Lynn, Stuart, Thompson. The ab¬ sences of Mr. O'Brien and Mr. Sherwood were excused by consent. Also present were President Hovde, Controner Stewart, Assistant Controller Kettler, Secre- :i tery Hockema, and Assistant Secretary Skinner.
III. LETTERS OF ACKI^OWLEDGMEt^T.
President Hovde presented letters of acknowledgment from toe Chase S. Osborn family and from Mrs. J. H» Kneale for flowers sent ty the Trustees for toe funjerale of Mr. Chase S. Osborn and Mr. J. H. Kneale.
By consent toe Board received toe letters of acknowledgment to be recorded and filed.
IV. REPORT RE DEATH OF Iffi-, JOHN H^. KNEALE.
Controner Stewart reported toe deato, on May 8, 1949, of Mr. John H. Kneale, brotoer-in-law of Mr. Da-yid E. Ross. Mr. Kneale, who had a nfe interest in property bequeatoed to toe University ty Mrs. Kneale (Enen Victoria Ross), bad given to toe University a total of approximately $7,000 for prize funds and had been helpfvil wito work on toe Kneale cooperative house for men students vrfiich had been made possible ty money from Mrs. Kneale.
By consent, toe foregoing report -was received as information.
