SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE.TRUSTEES OF
PURDUE UNIVERSITY
Executive Building August 3,   1950
I.    NOTICE OF MEETING.
The Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University convened in special meeting in the Trustees' Room of the Executive Building of the Univer¬ sity at 10:00 a.m.  (DST),   Thursday,  August 3,   1950, pursuant to Minute VIII, July 11,   1950,  and further pursuant to the following notice sent to each member of the Board by the Secretary on July 17,   1950:
President Stuart has instructed me to notify you that there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University on Thursday, August 3,   1950,   convening at 9:00 a.m.   CST (10:00 a.m.   DST) in the Trustees' Room of the Executive Building of the University,  in order to:
1. Receive,  open,   consider and act upon bids for
a. Residence Hall "X"
b. Unit One,   Life Science Buildings
c. Addition to Chenaistry Building.
d. New Service Building
2. Consider and act upon any other matter or business that may come before said meeting.
II. ROLL CALL,
President Stuart called the meeting to order at 10:00 a, m.    All members of the Board except two were present as follows:   Messrs.  Kettler,  Lynn,  O'Brien, Sherwood,  Stuart,   Thompson and Wilson.    The absences of Mrs.   Van Ness and Mr.   Hanley were excused by consent.    Also present were President Hovde, Treasurer Stewart,   Comptroller Kettler,  Secretary Hockema,  and Assistant Secretary Skinner.
III. MEMORIAL TO MR.   BRENTON A.   DEVOL.
President Stuart reported that,, pursuant to the action of Minute XXXVI, June  17,   1950,  he had appointed Mr.   Hanley,  Chairman,  Mr.  Kettler,  and Mr. Thompson as a committee to prepare a Memorial to Mr.   Brenton A.   Devol. In Mr.  Hanley's absence Mr.   Thompson read the following Memorial:
In the passing from this life of Brenton A.   Devol,  Purdue University has lost a competent legal counsel and a trusted adviser and friend.
