^^^ STATED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES QF THE TRUSTEES OF PURDUE UNIVERSITY Executive Building April. 19, 1950 Ijj. NOTICE QF MEETING. The Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University convened in steted meeting in toe Trustees' Room of toe Executive Building of Purdue University at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aprn 19, 1950, pursuant to toe fonowing : notice sent to each member of toe Board by toe Secre-baty on March 29, 1950: In accordance -wi-bh toe provisions of toe ty-Laws, toere win be a stated meeting of toe Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University on Wednesday and Thursday, ApriLl 19-20, 1950, convening at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 1950, in toe Trustees' Room of toe Executive Building of toe University in order to: 1. Receive, open, consider and act upon bids for a. Alterations to Peirce Conservatoty b. Ins-ballation of Switch Gear in Hea-ting and Power Plant, 2. Consider and act upon any otoer matter or business toat may come before said mee-ting. II. POLL GALL. President Stuart caned toe meeting to order at 9»30 a.m. An members of toe Board except one were present as fonows: Mrs. Van Ness, Messrs. Canand, Hanley, Ket-tler, O'Brien, Sherwood, Stuart and Thompson. The-absence of Mr. Lynn was excused ty consent. Also present were President Hovde, Treasurer Stewart, Comptroner Kettler, Secretaty Hockema, and Assistant Secretety Skinner. President Hovde read a postcard he had received from Mr. lynn written from London, England. III. REPORT RE ALLOTMENT OF FUNDS. President Hovde reported that toe State Budget Committee on Aprn 12, 1950 had anotted the fonowing funds to toe Board of Trustees of Purdue University: $150,000 from toe Post War Construction Contingency Appropria¬ tion for necessaty rehabintetion and repairs to buildings; $1,300,000 from toe General Fund Construction Contingency Appropriation to be used for toe construction of toe first unit of a Life Science Building ($1,000,000) and an additional unit for Civn Engineering ($300,000), (Minutes XIX and XX, March 16, 1950) ty consent toe foregoing report was received as information. « ILl B^PgT HE CHANGES IN UNIVERSITY CALENDAR (XXVI, Januaty 18-19, 1950). President Hovde reported that toe ^'acuity of toe University bad voted to estabnsh a seventeen-week semester for toe University calendar for 1950-1951. He reported furtoer toat toere is a possibinty toat toe Faculty may, in an¬ otoer year, decide to shorten each semester to sixteen weeks.
