L    NOTICE OF MEETING.

The Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University convened in special meeting in the Trustees' Room of the Executive Building of Purdue Uni¬ versity at 8:30 a. m.   CST (9:30 a.m.   CDT) on Wednesday,  May II,   1955,  pur¬ suant -to the action of the Board at a meeting held April 20,   1955,  Minute XXXVI, and further pursuant to the following notice sent to each member of the Board by the Secretary on April 25,   1955:
In accordance with the action of the Board of Trustees at the meeting held April 20,  1955, there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University on Wednesday,  May 11, 1955, convening at 8:30 a.m.  CST (9:30 a.m.  CDT) in the Trustees' Roona of the Executive Building of the University,  in order to:
j 1.    Consider and act upon the budgets of the University, the Agricultural
Experiment Station,  the Agricultural Extension Service, and the Self-Supporting Enterprises for the year 1955-1956:
2. Consider and act upon any other fiscal problems related to the
budget;
3. Consider and act upon any other matter or business which may
come before said meeting.
II. ROLL CALL.
President Hanley called the meeting to order at 8:30 a. na. (9:30 a.m.   CDT). All members of the Board were present as follows:   Mrs.  Crooks,  Messrs. Anderson,  Branigin, Hanley,  Kettler,  Lynn,  Morton,  Thompson and Wilson. Also present were President Hovde,  Treasurer Ste-wart, Assistant Treasurer and Business Manager Freehafer, Assistant Business Manager Gabbard, Secretary Hockema and Assistant Secretary Skinner.
III. REPORT RE GENERAL SUN LI-JEN.
President Hovde reported that a recent letter written from Honolulu by Professor R.  N,  Shreve had informed him that General Sun Li-Jen could not be absent frona his duties in Fornaosa this spring.    He therefore will be unable to be present for the conferral of an Honorary Degree at the June 5,   1955, ' Comnaencement exercises.
Report received as information by consent.
IV. REPORT RE CONFERRAL OF HONORARY DEGREE UPON MR. R. W. HERRICK.
President Hovde reported unanimous consent of the Faculty Committee on Promotions to confer the Honorary Master of Industry Degree upon Mr.  R, W, Herri'ck at the June 5,   1955,  Commencement exercises.    With the consent of the Board of Trustees (XX, April 20,   1955),  he had extended the Invitation to Mr.  Herrick and received Mr.  Herrick's acceptance.
