SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TRUSTEES
OF PURDUE UNIVERSITY

L    NOTICE OF MEETING.
The Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University convened in special meeting in the  Trustees' Room of the Executive Building of Purdue University at 10:00 a.m.  CST (11:00 a.m.  CDT) on Thursday, August 20, 1953, pursuant to Minute XVI,  Board meeting held May 30,  1963, and further pur¬ suant to the following notice sent to each member of the Board.by the Secretary on July 15,  1953:
In accordance with the action of the Board of Trustees at the meeting held May 30,   1953, there wiU be a special meeting of the Board of. Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University on Thursday, August 20, 1953,  convening at 10:00 a.m.  CST (11:00 a.m.  DST) inthe Trustees' Room of the Executive BuUcUng of the University in order to:
1. Consider and act upon the-roainutes of the meeting.of the Executive .    , Comnaittee of the Board held July 2,   1953;
2. Receive,  open,  consider and act upon bids for:
a. Completion of First Unit of Life Science BuilcUng;
b. Construction of basement of Second Unit of Life Science
Building;
c. Addition to Purdue Memorial Union Building; and
d. Construction of Parking Area north of Library;
3. Consider and act upon any other matter or business which may
come before said meeting.
IL    ROLL CALL.
President Hanley caUed the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m.  (DST).   All members of the Board except three were present as foUows:   Messrs.  Hanley, Kettler, Lynn,  Teetor, Thompson and Wilson.    The absences of Mrs.  Crooks, Mr. Anderson and Mr. Branigin were excused by consent.   Also present were President Hovde,  Treasurer Stewart,  ComptroUer Kettler, Seci^ary Hockema, and Assistant Secretary Skinner,
III.    PRESENTATION OF CERTIFICATE OF REAPPOINTMENT OF MR.  J.  RALPH THOMPSON.
Mr.  J.  Ralph Thompson presented his certificate of appointment by the Governor to the Board of Trustees of Purdue University, effective July 1,   1953, for a period of three years or until his successor is appointed and qualUied.
Mr.  Thompson had been duly qualUied by subscribing to his oath of office.
