I^ NOTICE OF MEETING,
The Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University convened in the Trustees* Room of the Executive Building of the University at 5:05 p,m., Monday, December 9^ 1946, pursuant to the following notice which had been sent to each member of the Board by the Secretary on December 2',  1946:
The President has instructed me to notify you that there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of Ihe Trustees of Purdue Uni¬ versity on Monday, December 9, 1946, convening at 4:30 p,m. in the Trustees* Room of the Executive Building of the University, in order to:
1. Review the Legislative Budget for 1947-1949 with the State Budget Committee;
2. Discuss plans for granting general salary increases to entire University staff beginning January 1, 1947;
3. Report on adjustment of fixed fee building contracts;
4. Report on temporary buildings for classrooms and laboratories;
5. Consider and act upon any other matter or business that may come before said meeting.
II. ROLL CALL,
The meeting was called to order by President Stuart at 5:05 p,m, with the fol- lo'dng Trustees present: Mrs. Van Ness, Messrs, Cole, Hanley, Lynn, Stuart, Thompson and Wilson, constituting a majority and quorum. The absences of Mr, ShemTOOd, because of illness, and of Mr, Hillenbrand, v/hose resignation had been filed, were excused by consent of the Board. Also present were President Hovde, Controller Stewart, Secretary Hockenia and Assistant Secretary Skinner.
By consent the Board convened in informal session vdth Mr, Roscoe P, Freeman, Director of the Budget, Representative Ralph Harvey, Chairman, Senators V/alter Vermillion and John Kendall, members of the State Budget Committee, Senator Charles M, Maddox, Benton and Tippecanoe Counties, and Mr. T. R. Johnston, Director, Bureau of Information.
III. CONSIDERATION OF UNIVKRSITY NEEDS.
At the request of the Budget Committee, President Hovde reviewed briefly the follOYdng budget requests of the University:
1. Legislative Budget for 1947-1949 biennium and building construction program, as approved by the Board, Minutes XLVI and XLVII, October 16-17> 1946, and subsequently submitted to the State Budget Committee.
2, Emergency appropriation to reimburse liiiversity for expenditures from operating balances to provide utilities and site preparation for temporary structures supplying housing, classrooms and laboratories to carry load
