987 ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TRUSTEES OF PURDUE UNIVERSITY Executive Building November 20, 1948 Ii. NOTICE OF MEETING. The Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University convened in the Trustees' Room of the Executive Building of Purdue University at 9:30 a.m., Satur¬ day, November 20, 1948, pursuant to the adjournment of the morning of November 13, 1948, and further pursuant to the following notice of meeting sent to each member of tiie Board on November 17, 1948: President Stuart has asked me to notify you that, pursuant to the adjournment for lack of quorum on the morning of Saturday, November 13, 1948, the Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University will convene in adjourned session at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 1948, in the Trustees' Room of the Executive Building of Purdue University, in order to consider and act upon any matter or business that may come before said meeting. II. ROLL CALL. President Stuart called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. All members of the Board except Mr. Hanley were present as follows: Mrs. Van Ness, Messrs. Calland, Cole, Lynn, O'Brien, Sherwood, Stuart and Thompson. The absence of Mr. Hanley was excused by consent. Also present were President Hovde, Controller Stewart, Assistant Controller Kettler, Secretary Hockema and Assistant Secretary Skinner. III. REPORT RE FRIBERG V/ILL. President Stuart reported informally conceming the will of the late Mrs. Mary Royse Friberg, under the terms of which Purdue University is altemate bene¬ ficiary under certain rather remote conditions. Because of its complicated nature, the court will be asked for a construction of the will. At that time, attorneys for the estate will present a proposal conceming the University's interest in the estate. Report received as information. IV. REPORT RE REQUEST OF CONTRACTORS FOR AID ON EXCESSIVE LABOR COSTS (XLVIII, October 20-21, 1948). Controller ^tewart reported that Mr. A. E. Kemmer, Contractor, had filed suit against The Trustees of Purdue University claiming approximately $60,000.00 additional conqjensation on the Student Apartments Dormitory project because of increased wage rates paid during the term of the contract. The Controller re¬ ported further that Mr. Devol, University legal counsel, had been furnished with the University file on the case in order to defend the suit. Report received as information. Vj. PROPOSED USE Ql jWR RESERVE FOR EXIGENCIES OF STAFF FUND. Controller Stewart reported that Mr. C. K. Robbins, Associate Professor of Mathematics, who has been a member of the University staff since 1914, and who has long been partially incapacitated as a result of polionyelitis, had suffered
