Eliza Fowler Hall lO A.M. October 12, 1927 The Board of Trustees met in regular aeasion at 10 A. M. on Wednesday, October 12, 1927, in Eliza Fowler Hall. There were preaent: Mr. Edgerton Mr. Hall Mr. Hillenbrand Mr. Kimbrough Mr. Lilly !/Irs. Meredith Mr. Noel i!ilr. Roas Mr. Simpson President Ross presided and the Secretary acted as Secrei;ary. The minutes of the meeting of September 21, 1927 were read and approved. I. REPORT OF C0MMITT5E APPOINTED JANUARY 4, 1927 TO RSPORT UPON MR. ROSS'S 'TIEt^TORAiroUM" PRESSNTED. APRIL 14th, 1926. Mr. Kimbrough presented the written report of the Special Coimnittee appointed January 4, 1927 to prepare a report upon the raeraorandura "Con¬ cerning Certain Aspects of the Problems of Technical Training arxl Industry, v/lth Reference to the Needs and Opportunities of Purdue Univeraity," presented to the Board by Mr. Ross, April 14, 1926; and moved that the report be re¬ ceived for record and that the Committee be discharged. The motion was carried unanimously. "To the President and Members of the Board of Trustees, of Purdue Universitys- Your Committee appointed to prepare a report on the meraorandum submitted by Mr. David E. Ross, entitled "Certain Aspects of the Problem of Technical Training and Industry with reference to the Needs and Opportunities of Purdue University", submit the following report:- We are impressed with the importance of the subject matter of the memorandum and the cai;eful study and investigation given by Mr. Ross in tte preparation of the Report. The problems dealt with in the memorandum are unquestionably of outstanding importance, not alone to Purdue, but to the State and nation in practically every educational, social and com¬ mercial relationship. To solve these problems successfully will tax the best talent in every field of educational endeavor. 25
