SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF_.THUSTESS_OF_PURDUE_UNIVERSITY Consideration of Bida fcr Constructj ing New Buildings Eliza Fowler Hall May 21, 1929 In accordance with action taken at the meeting of May 14, 1929, the Board of Trusteea met in apecial aession at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 21, 1929, in Eliza Fowler Hall. There were preaent: Mr. Hall, Mr. Hillenbrand. Mr. Kimbrough, Mr. Lilly, Mrs. Meredith, Mr. Ross, and the President of the University. President Elliott reported that Mr. Simpson and Mr. Edgerton had notified him they could not be present, and Mr. Noel was also unable to attend the meeting. President Ross presided and the Secretary acted as secretaiy. Controller Stewart sat with the Board throughout the session. Mr. Bush¬ nell, Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Scholer were present during the consideration of matters connected with the building program. By consent the reading of the minutes of the meetings of April 10 and of May 14 was deferred. Ij^ CONSIDERATION OF BIDS AND AV/ARD OF CONTRACTS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF UrriT U_ OF. THE CHE?.!ISTRY BUILDING, THS PHARMACY BUILDING, AND UNIT l^ 01 THE lifSCHANICAL ENGINEERING BUILDING. Controller Stewart presented to each member of the Board a memorandum of the low base bids and alternates on each structure, together with a sum- _ mary of costs, including other items involved in the conteiiplated structures and a statement of other major expenditures which must be considered; and a statement of the funds available for these purposes. (File A) From theae memoranda it appeared that the Glenn Y/. North Construction Company, of Terre Haute, was the lov/est bidder on the combined bid for the general construction of the three buildings; that A. E. Kemmer, of Lafayette, was the lowest bidder on the plumbing, heating and ventilating, and also on the electric wiring except on the Mechanical Engineering Building; and that the W. W. Kimball Company of Chicago were the lowest bidders on the
