y Purdue University Veterinary Medical UPDATE Winter Annual Report Issue ol. XIX, No. 1 New Vistas for Veterinary Medicine Lynn Hall Addition Takes Shape! -by Kevin Doerr New addition to the School of Veterinary Medicine takes shape on the east side of Lynn Hall Concrete and steel are giving form to a decade of dreams about the much needed expansion of the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. As the School reaches its 35th anniversary year, workers are building the first major addition since the School opened in 1959. Just six months after the start of construction, workers have erected much of the structure that will house new hospital facilities and laboratories for clinical studies and research. Still to come are the floors and walls for new classroom space, a Biomedical Information Resource Center which will replace the existing library, a 200 seat lecture hall, and an expanded production medicine unit. The addition will provide 65,000 square feet of assignable space, nearly doubling the size of Lynn Hall. School administrators, faculty, staff, retirees and students celebrated the start of construction with a groundbreaking ceremony in May.
