Mimeo DH - 105 Revised April - 1965 AI SIRE SUMMARIES - FEBRUARY 1965 The AI sires listed herein have daughters from AI service on test with DHIA or DHIR records in Indiana and are reported as having semen available. Records of production of daughters of these sires are shown in comparison with their non-paternal herdmates calving in the same season of the year. Data reported for daughters with herdmates includes records from states other than Indiana. For your convenience in use of this mimeo, sires are listed by breeds and in numerical order of registration number. Total daughters with records are shown with the number of states in which records were made. Average production of all AI daughters tested is listed. Next appears the number of tested daughters with herdmates and the average production of the herdmates. Changes in level of production between daughters and herdmates are shown under the column headed "Difference." A minus (-) indicates that the daughters of the sire produced less than their herdmates. The predicted average is an indicated averaqe level of production at which the sire would under wide use and under all types of feeding and management conditions be expected to maintain production from a genetic viewpoint. Thus a sire with a large number of daughters in many herds and states with a large increase in both milk and butterfat production would be expected to provide satisfactory genetic improvement for a breeder. Lactation records reported include only those resulting from calving dates prior to January 30, 1964. Sires now listed with less than 20 daughters may show a marked change in daughter-herdmate difference as additional records are completed and summarized. Additional information on these and other AI service sires is available in the DHIA Sire Summary List. This list is available at your County Extension Office.
