Soft Wheat Varieties; Indiana climate and soil conditions are well suited for growing high quality soft red winter wheat but unfavorable for good quality hard wheat„ ual, Vermillion, Knox and LaPorte are new high yielding varieties. Dual and Monon are fly resistant; Knox and Vermillion are early short-strawed; Vermillion is very winter hardy. LaPorte resists loose smut and powdery mildew. Monon is short, early, stiff-strawed.
