 CERTIFICATE OF WAR NECESSITY MILEAGE OF LIVESTOCK TRUCKS

Certificates of War Necessity issued to the operators of many Indiana farm and commercial trucks may not provide the mileage and gasoline needed to haul livestock and other farm products to .market, and supplies to farms, according, to the data presented in •this report. Transportation of these products is just as essential as that of guns and ammunition.
"Conservation of equipment, rubber and motor fuel .... to further the war effort . . . . has in some instances curtailed the operations of motor transportation to the point where economy seems endangered, In such instances it is expected that each effected operator will make the necessaiy appeal .... supporting such appeal with the required proof of needed supplemental mileage,'to enable the continuance of the •movement of necessary traffic . . . ." Livestock truckers should appeal at once for supplemental mileage and gasoline if those .provided by Certificates of War Necessity are not largo enough for. th.ejr..*essentia-1-hau-li-ng* needs.
ODT forms-€WN-5"-S 'for one or two trucks and CWN-5-F for fleet operators (three .or more trucks), used for .making appeals, have been •sent to all-.USDA War Boards in Indiana, Farmers should file their appeals with the local offices; commercial truckers should send appeals to their District Office. These offices in Indiana are:

An appeal for more mileage must be supported by a month's hauling record for each truck that gives:	(l) the total miles,
driven; (2) the number of trips made; (3) the total tonnage hauled; and (4) the gallons of motor fuel used,
