REPORT OF TILE DRAINAGE IN INDIANA FOR 1958 Donald R. Sisson. Extension Agricultural Engineer
Indiana landowners spent nearly- nine and one-third million dollars for tile drainage in 1958. Approximately half of this was for drain tile and the remaining half for installation.
Table 1 shows the 1958 drain tiles sales as furnished by 10 clay and 18 concrete drain tile manufacturers. In addition to these 28 plants, there were eight or 10 other plants that produced minor quantities. Probably their production would bring the total to nearly 40 million lineal feet. This summary does not include drain tile shipped into Indiana by out-of-state manufacturers. However, some of the tile listed by. Indiana manufacturers may have been sold in other states.

Drain Tile Sales Up in 1958

Table 2 shows a comparison of 1957 ana -L7?	,	eain of 18.3 percent, and
a percent in 1958 over 1957. Clay tile sales showed a gain
concrete, a gain of 34-8 percent.
