PURDUE UNIVERSITY Agricultural Experiment Station Circular No. 56 LaFayette, Ind., August, 1916 MEETING OF COMMITTEE APPOINTED TO RECOMMEND BEST METHODS OF VACCINATION, CONTROL AND ERADICATION OF HOG-CHOLERA The following members of the committee appointed at the Fourth Annual Hog-Cholera Conference, Dr. F. A. Bolser, Dr. A. F. Nelson, Dr. G. H. Roberts, Dr. G. N. Wickwire, Dr. H. J. Kannal, Dr. R. A. Craig, and Mr. J. W. Brendal, met in Room 13, State House, Indianapolis, March 10. 1916, Dr. F. A. Bolser presiding. Dr. Bolser: We will hear from the University first. Dr. Craig. Dr. R. A. Craig: Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen. I did not expect to lead ofi’ in this discussion. As you all know, we are greatly interested in hog-cholera control work in Indiana, as well as in the educational and experimental side of the work. I stated at the Conference that we are more discouraged this year in hog-cholera control in Indiana than we have ever been. The reason why I make this statement is because of the increased loss from cholera during 1915. The first real efifort to control hog-cholera was begun about three years ago, and although the loss from hog-cholera has dropped off to a considerable degree, it is still above the average, and the hog-cholera statistics for 1915 give a loss of 500,000 head. It is interesting to study the hog-cholera statistics for this state and note the death rate from year to year. These statistics are as follows:
