EXTENSION BULLETIN No. 145 AUGUST, 1926 KILL THE COMMON BARBERRY By Wayne E. Leer1 Division of Botany Killing escaped or "wild" common barberry bushes in Wayne County with crushed rock salt. The common barberry is difficult to kill by digging: or pulling, but it is readily killed when properly treated with either crushed rock salt or kerosene. More than 2,000 escaped barberry bushes have been found in Wayne County scattered over 57 square miles. Bushes were found under trees, along fence rows, along ditch banks, in pastures, and in almost every conceivable place. PURDUE UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION G. I.
